- A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Publishing, or related social sciences.
- A Master’s degree (MBA) is an added advantage.
- At least ten (10) years of professional experience, with at least 5 years at a senior management level, preferably in the publishing or printing industry.
- In-depth understanding of the Kenyan book market, educational curriculum, and digital publishing trends.
- Strong financial acumen, exceptional leadership abilities, and excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Knowledge of emerging global trends in digital education. Strong strategic leadership and organizational skills.
- Effective team leadership and capacity building skills. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strategic Direction: Develop and implement short, medium, and long-term strategies, business plans, and annual operating budgets.
- Operational Management: Oversee daily publishing operations, including editorial, production, sales, and logistics.
- Sales & Marketing Growth: Drive revenue growth by initiating innovative marketing strategies, expanding product base, and increasing digital distribution.
- Financial Control: Manage the P&L (Profit and Loss), optimize resources, and ensure sustainable financial health.
- Stakeholder Relations: Build strong, productive relationships with authors, distributors, the Ministry of Education (for educational publishers), and other stakeholders.
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and motivate a high-performing team to achieve KPIs and foster a culture of excellence.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, copyright laws, and industry standards.
